Austin Scandinavian Dance and Music

We are a recreational group of dancers and musicians dedicated to promoting the exploration of the beautiful, flowing dances of Scandinavia and the lush, haunting music that accompanies it.

The Austin Scandi Music & Dance Community meets
every Wednesday from 7:30 - 9:45 pm in central Austin
Hancock Recreation Center 811 E. 41st Street, in the Back Room

Once a month (usually the fourth Wednesday, info@austinscandi.org to confirm) we host a dance, often featuring live music from community members and/or bands. The other Wednesdays are music nights, including open mics, jams, workshops, singing, and other learning opportunities.

First Wednesdays: Singing
Second Wednesdays: Jam Session
Third Wednesdays: Slow Jam Session
Fourth Wednesdays: Dance
Fifth Wednesdays: Jam Session

We welcome all levels of players and interest. Contact Lane at austinscandi@me.com if you have questions about music activities.

Dance evenings include turning dances at all levels. You do not need to bring a partner, as partners are shared throughout the evening. Bringing or wearing leather-soled or slick-soled shoes will make turning easier. If you are interested in learning these beautfiful and flowing dances, contact Christian at info@austinscandi.org

Newcomers always welcome!
